You’ve probably heard about CBD by now, with its increasing popularity. And because of this, it is being added to all sorts of products ranging from skincare products to foods we eat every day.
In this article we have gathered different reasons why CBD may be even more beneficial to women. This article covers some of the major topics that women, in particular, might find useful about CBD. Let’s get started!
PMS (Premenstrual Syndrome):
You might have heard about the anti-inflammatory properties of CBD oils. Many women experience PMS a couple of days before the start of their period. Since it has been reported that ¾ of women experience PMS, CBD can drastically help in this case because CBD oils can help manage mood swings and give a bit of relaxation. A New York representative has said that CBD has been a game-changer for her in terms of providing relaxation and it has none of the side effects of marijuana (2021).
CBD Cosmetic Products?
Since CBD is being incorporated into so many things that we consume or apply to our skin, it is entirely predictable that it finds its way into skincare and beauty products. CBD oils contain loads of beneficial ingredients such as essential fatty acids and various vitamins, so it’s a no-brainer that they find their way into skincare products. CBD’s antioxidant properties have been shown to slow down the aging process by preventing the appearance of aging skin (Brown, 2021).
CBD in the morning?
After reading that title, you might be thinking about trying CBD in the morning – right, and especially with coffee? The answer would be yes, but let’s explain factually. Millions of women around the world consume coffee daily, and CBD coffee holds more benefits compared to normal coffee. CBD coffee helps improve your sleep quality, boosts your immune system, and helps with anxiety. All of these factors are very beneficial to women during their menstrual period (Griffin, 2021).
Stress Relief Factors:
Everyone goes through a stressful time at some point in their life. Either due to family, work, social life, or all of the above. Women are also on the receiving end in this case because an increasing number of women feel like it is an uphill battle, and it keeps getting harder and harder. CBD oils help you relax and take a break from your hectic schedule. It may help with post-traumatic stress disorder and anxiety-induced insomnia (Cherney, 2020).
Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS):
IBS is a disorder that affects millions of women all over the world, it is a condition in the large intestine and the symptoms include a change in bowel movement, cramps, and abdominal pain (Staff, 2020). Unfortunately, this disorder has become a real issue with women because more and more women are starting to report it. CBD oils have been utilized in controlling some of these symptoms.
Can CBD Help with Pregnancy Stress?
Many women will go through the process of pregnancy at some point. Moreover, it’s probably one of the most stressful periods in a woman’s life. Going from listening to everyone's opinions on what you should and shouldn’t do, to feeling tired constantly, and all of the emotional ups and downs due to the hormones. Unfortunately, several things need to be checked multiple times during pregnancy. In addition, while CBD is recommended to many people based on research, there simply isn’t sufficient research to prove if it is safe for pregnant women or not.
CBD during breastfeeding?
This is another touchy subject simply based on the fact that (just like with pregnancy) there simply isn’t sufficient evidence to prove that it is safe for a breastfeeding mother to take CBD so it doesn’t impact the baby.
Does CBD affect fertility?
Anyone who has fertility issues knows that your entire lifestyle can affect your fertility. Therefore, every single decision you make has to be thought over a thousand times in terms of how it will affect you. Unfortunately there has not been enough research done to determine whether or not CBD affects fertility.
Can CBD Help with Breast Cancer?
Breast cancer affects women all over the world and is one of the most common forms of cancer in the world. Radiation and chemotherapy can cause complications for a patient, even though survival rates do keep on climbing. The way CBD oil comes into play is that it works with the endocannabinoid system to minimize side effects of breast cancer treatment such as anxiety, vomiting, nausea, etc.
CBD as an Antidepressant:
This is a touchy subject as well because depression affects millions of women around the world. And while there are antidepressants available on the market, their side effects can have a significant impact on your life. Research findings from 2014 showed that CBD oils were helpful with treating depression because they interacted positively with serotonin receptors.
